Theology Tuesday: What does Jesus look like?

Revelation 1:13-16 is the only physical description of Jesus given to us in the Bible. The only other description that comes close is in Is. 53:2.

John sees “one like a son of man” [Dan. 7:13-14], standing among seven golden lampstands [Rev. 1:12-13]

His Clothing:
clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His chest with a golden sash.[Rev. 1:13; Ex.28:4, 29:5, 39:1-5]

His Hair:
And His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow…” . [Rev. 1:14; Dan. 7:9, Is. 1:18]

His Eyes:
“and His eyes were like a flame of fire.” Like blazing fire [Rev. 1:14; Rev. 2:18, 19:12]

His Feet:
“His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been made to glow in a furnace,…” [Rev. 1:15; Ex. 27:1-6]

His Voice:
“and His voice was like the sound of many waters,…” [Rev. 1:15; Ez. 43:2]

His Right hand:
“and having in His right hand seven stars,…” [Rev. 1:16; 1:11, 1:20]

His Mouth:
a sharp two-edged sword which comes out of His mouth,…” [Rev. 1:16; Heb. 4:12, Eph. 6:17]

His Face:
“and His face was like the sun shining in its power.” [Rev. 1:16; Matt. 17:2]

John’s Reaction

Rev. 1:17 “And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead man.”

What is your reaction?
